Perhaps my only reason to stray from my democratic roots... Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich wants to send Americans back to the moon. And that's not all. In a direct quote, Gingrich promised: "By the end of my second term, we will have the first permanent base on the moon, and it will be American."
Also, he promises that NASA will build a rocket capable of reaching Mars in about eight years.
This all sounds great, but can we afford to even try anymore? I hope so.

I heard about this- it would be amazing to have a moon base
Definitely! It could be base camp for future exploration of the outer planets. But it sounds costly.
